Ever wanted to have a go at gymnastics and had to listen to "You're too old!” Well, forget them and listen to us! The British Institute for Chinese Martial Arts incorporates the Chin Woo Gymnastics Club. We have a team of qualified martial art and BGA gymnastic coaches who have been teaching gymnastics professionally for many years. We currently run classes specifically tailored to adults of all levels, including beginners.

So, if you ever wanted to learn how to be an acrobat, get a great body and impress your friends with new found talents then come along and learn that age has nothing to do with it! Gymnastics is ideal for dancers, actors/actresses and anyone who would like to get extra abilities from their fitness training - all of which is achievable with the right kind of coaching. Our coaches have all worked in Centres of Excellence for gymnastics with National Team coaches and champions. Many of our former gymnasts have gone on to become acrobats and stunt performers for stage and screen.

We understand that an adult's body and brain are different to a child's, so the training is approached in a different way. Adults' lower backs are fully formed and not as flexible as children's, so we do exercises designed to help stabilise your back and help prevent you from being injured. We also focus a lot on stretching, as a great degree of flexibility is required for gymnastics, and adults aren't as fortunate as children in that aspect. Finally, we understand that the adult brain has learned that jumping backwards over your head onto your hands isn't a good idea. Children, on the other hand, are fortunate enough not to have developed this fear yet. Our gradual progressive coaching ensures that you will be able to do just that while being safe at all times.

No special clothing is required - just come along in a T-shirt, jogging bottoms and socks. All our coaches are qualified and insured by the British Gymnastics Association.

After 2-3 lessons we will require you to become a member for insurance and health and safety purposes. You will also need to purchase hand chalk from us for a massive £3 per block! Annual Membership is £60.00 and includes BGA insurance, Associate Membership to BGA, eligibility to train, club T-shirt and the infamous bi-annual BICMA newsletter.
